UNION CO., KY (WFIE) -

A Union County teenager says she's been using writing to cope with the stress of being bullied.

On Tuesday, 16-year-old Monica Jenkins signed copies of her book 'The Lost Heir' at the Herron Center in Union County.

Jenkins says the book is about a teen with magical powers who goes on journeys to find her parents. The young author says she started writing after being bullied at school.

She now offers some advice for students who might be in similar situations.

"Just keep your head up. Don't worry about what they're saying because it can probably make you a better person and it will just make you stronger," Jenkins said.

You can pick up a copy of 'The Lost Heir' at Barnes and Noble.
