Salvation Army prepares for Christmas

Posted: Updated:
OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

The Salvation Army will begin to wrap up all the hard work it's done this holiday season for families in need.

The Salvation Army in Owensboro is pretty quiet right now, but will be very busy today and tomorrow.

Later today, the advisory board will start packing Christmas food boxes for tomorrow's big distribution day.

They'll also get the Angel Tree gifts ready as well.

Those Angel Tree gifts will help to ensure that all children in our area wake up with presents under the tree on Christmas morning.

The food boxes that will be given out to families will be filled with items that allow them to have a holiday meal.

This program's goal is to provide Christmas trees, food, and toys to families in need during the holiday season.

The Salvation Army is always looking for volunteers to help out with packing and distributing the boxes, so if you'd like to give up some of your time, you can call them at 270-685-5576.

It's also the last week for the Red Kettle Campaign if you'd like to make a donation.
