Stolen vehicle chase ends in crash on Evansville's east side

Posted: Updated:

A police chase ended in a crash Sunday afternoon in Evansville.

The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Covert and Joyce.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office say it all started when Kyle Anderson of Evansville, stole an SUV on Saturday.

An EPD officer noticed the vehicle because of its busted windows Sunday afternoon and began following the driver. Authorities say Anderson then began speeding south on Joyce Ave.

A van was traveling eastbound on Covert when the SUV came into the intersection through a red light. Anderson tried to avoid the van, but skidded into its side.

Deputies say Anderson got out of SUV and ran east on Covert. A canine caught him two houses down from the intersection.

Anderson was taken to the hospital for a dog bite. The woman driving the van was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Deputies say Anderson is likely facing a few charges. Authorities say he has felony warrants in Gibson County and Henderson.
