OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Christmas is the time of year for giving and the Daniel Pitino Shelter in Owensboro is asking for your help.

The non-profit organization is collecting Christmas gifts for kids living at the shelter.

These kids need basic necessities like winter clothes and lotion. The kid's ages range from a few weeks old to 17 years old.

The shelter is also auctioning off a football autographed by Louisville head football coach Charlie Strong.

The money will go towards buying gifts for the kids.

"The predicament that they are in is not the child's fault. And they should not suffer. And when they come here they should realize that they can still have a Christmas," said James Barnett, Program Director at Daniel Pitino Shelter.

Contact the Daniel Pitino Shelter if you would like to make a donation.
