According to ESPN.com, Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant intends to delay surgery on his broken left index finger and will attempt to play Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Bryant will be limited in practice on Thursday. He will probably wear a taped-up splint and communicate constantly with trainers about his comfort level.
If the finger is reinjured, it could cause permanent stiffness, which could minimize his ability to catch passed in the future.
Bryant has been one of the Cowboys' best performers this season. He has caught 30 passes for 438 yards with six touchdowns over the past four weeks, and has scored in the past five games.
Bryant ranks 10th in the NFL in receiving yards (1,028) this season and is tied for third with nine touchdowns.
