Evansville Police and agents with the ATF say they have arrested 56-year-old Larry Lee Deason on weapons charges after an investigation into threats against the media.

Officials say a tipster stated Deason was angry at the media and that Deason said someone may get hurt or killed.

Authorities say the tip also gave information that Deason was in possession of several firearms.

After receiving the tip, investigators say they learned Deason had been convicted of Class C-Felony battery twice in Indiana. He had also been arrested in Illinois for weapons violations. Under Indiana law, the Felony Battery convictions make Deason a serious violent felon. As a serious violent offender, he is not allowed to possess any firearms.

Investigators interviewed Deason and they says he confirmed he had several weapons in his home. Authorities say three weapons were from Deason's home during the investigation.

Officials say Deason was arrested for being a Serious Violent Felon in Possession of a Firearm. The charge is a Class-B Felony.

Deason was lodged at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
