Homeless shelter hosts open house

There's an open house today that will showcase an Owensboro shelter's new home and renovations.

You're invited to visit the Boulware Mission later today.

The shelter recently moved to its new location on Wing Avenue after spending the last 91 years at the original location on Hall Street.

Recently, the Mission has been renovating its new home with funds from Impact 100.

Today's open house from 2-6 p.m. is an opportunity to show the public some of the changes that have taken place.

From 4:30-5 p.m., second graders from Highland Elementary School and their families are invited to tour the Mission and meet staff and some residents.

This group of students has collected much needed items such as socks, gloves, and personal hygiene items that will be delivered during the open house.

The students actually took on this project instead of exchanging gifts at their annual holiday party.

Today's open house is an opportunity for the public to embrace the giving spirit of the holidays.

And again if you'd like to attend, the doors open at 2 p.m.
