EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Fire Investigator Richard Howard has ruled the cause of Sunday night’s blaze at Shyler's to be accidental.

Howard stated that leaves and other debris were near the operating meat smokers behind the Green River Road restaurant where the fire originated.

The fire
started around 11:30 Sunday night, a little after the restaurant had closed for the night.

It
was mostly contained to the back area, but there is extensive smoke damage throughout the restaurant and some structural damage.

The owner told us it will probably take weeks to clean up the water and smoke damage.

He says he hopes to be open before the end of the year.
