There's an Evansville household that takes decorating for Christmas to a whole new level.

You won't believe how many Christmas trees are inside their home.

The Christmas spirit in their home is obvious from the outside, but the inside is really something to see.

Kerry Niehaus has 72 Christmas trees with all the trimmings. Some trees spin, some are traditional. Some are made by hand, and there's even one tree that's upside down.

"It's my passion. I love Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year," Niehaus said.

Niehaus has been decorating for Christmas since October 1 and he just finished. It's a tradition he and his partner, Chris, have upheld since they first bought the home in 1999.

He says their collection just keeps growing.

"The longer we've had the house, the more trees I've accumulated. People give me stuff," Niehaus said.

They used to store all the trees and decorations in the attic, but as their collection grew, that space became too small.

"We actually bought the house next door and I store everything next door. I have two rooms set aside for just the Christmas decorations," Niehaus told 14 News.

Niehaus says he hosts a few Christmas parties every year so his friends and family can enjoy his hard work.

"I generally leave it up until about February. Since it takes me so long to put up, I don't want to take it down right after Christmas.

When asked about his electric bill, Niehaus said "Oh, December, it goes up a little bit, with all the lights."

He says it's worth every penny.

Niehaus says he buys a lot of his decor online and he really takes advantage of those after Christmas sales for the bargains.
