VINCENNES, IN (WFIE) -

Vincennes police released new details Sunday morning about a shooting that left a Vincennes University student dead.

Originally, authorities told 14 News the death of 22-year-old Malcolm Jamar Stalling of South Bend was being treated as a homicide investigation.

However, authorities say a subsequent investigation has led them to believe foul play was not involved.

Officers say Stalling was found unresponsive near the front door of his off-campus apartment house at 610 N. Second Street around 6:45 Saturday night by his roommate.

Stalling was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital where he died.

Police say during their investigation they have conducted interviews and received other information indicating the death is likely a suicide.

A medical examination is scheduled for Sunday afternoon with a forensic pathologist to assist in further determining the cause.

14 News will continue to update this story on air and online as we get new information.
