Local churches pull together to help families in need

Several churches and community members have pulled together in Somerville to provide families in need with a one stop shop for shoes, clothing and Christmas gifts. All free of charge.

Organizers are busy setting up at the Lighthouse Christian Fellowship in Somerville for the Community Clothing Bank. The event starts Saturday morning.

Men's, women's and children's clothing and shoes have been donated throughout the year in anticipation of the big event.

Organizers partner with the Crossroads Baptist Church just down the street.

Crossroads will have gently used children's games and toys at their location. Lighthouse Christian Fellowship opens its doors several times a year, offering donations for kids going back to school and even expecting mothers. Both locations will be open from 9 until noon on Saturday morning.

The walk through and shop, they get personal assistants and they go room to room and some rooms have stocking stuffers, other rooms have bigger toys, things like that, and it's all age appropriate and no family will be turned away," said Deanne Splittorff, Clothing Bank Organizer.

Deann says she's thankful for the community's generosity and says they are always there when someone is in need.
