Work continues to move along on yet another construction project in Owensboro.
The Bates Building, which is located at the corner of Allen and East Second Streets has been undergoing some changes for over a year and a half.
The Bates Building is just one of several downtown that's being revitalized.
Right now, it's in the final stages of that process.
Like others in the heart of downtown, it will be a mixed use building with retail space on the bottom and condos on the upper floors.
The Bates Building has already attracted some tenants, whose names you might recognize.
On the side of the building that faces Allen Street, a Cold Stone Creamery will share space with the Cup Cakery, which is a local business in Owensboro.
There will be space for outdoor seating during the spring and summer months as well.
Developer Terry Woodward says he's glad that he's been able to preserve much of the original look of the building.
"We've had to do a lot of work inside, make a lot of changes inside, but I think it's one of the signature buildings in downtown Owensboro, so I'm happy that I was able to save it," said Woodward.
Woodward's also renovating the old Woolworth's building next door.
The condos in the Bates Building should be finished next month and the Cold Stone and Cup Cakery should be open by March.
