The City of Madisonville is one step closer to the development of the 265 acre Mahr Park.
Committee members chose Lose and Associates as their first selection to be park planners of the land located just off Nebo Road across from Calhoun's Farm and Pet store.
The city plans to make it a passive park with walking and bike trails.
The committee says they also plan to pay tribute to the previous owner, Glema Mahr because of all she did for the local community.
"We're talking about a park that was a dream for the family that owned the farm and what they saw as the use for the park and we thought Lose and Associates really represented, thinking outside the box, some of the ideas that we were looking for to share Miss Mahr's dream," said Mike Franklin, City Administrator.
The Park Committee plans to hold public forums early next year to find out what residents would like to see at the park.
