SPENCER CO, IN (WFIE) -

A trial date has been set for an Owensboro teen facing charges in the death of a young Owensboro man.

A judge set the trial date of January 14 for 19-year-old Joseph Galloway, who was arrested in August following the death of 20-year-old Cody Bailey.

Investigators say Galloway brought a gun to a Spencer County gathering where Bailey was shot.

Galloway is charged with dangerous control of a firearm, a Class-C Felony, that carries a maximum eight year prison sentence.

Both Cody Bailey's parents were in court today, still grieving the loss of their son.

He didn't deserve this..He was getting ready to start Western, getting his paperwork ready to go to college," said David Bailey, victim's father.

Galloway's attorney will have until 10 days before the trial date to decide on whether any sort of plea agreement can be reached.
