LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - For the fourth time this year, Ford is recalling the 2013 Ford Escape, but this time the 2013 Fusion has been added to the list. The recall, which affects more than 89,000 vehicles, is because of a problem with the 1.6 liter Ecoboost engine in both vehicles.
"There is a potential for this [engine] to overheat and it could result in a fire," said Virginia Payne with Downtown Ford.
Owners of the two recalled cars should bring their vehicle into a Ford dealership and they will be given a rental car until it is fixed. They do not have a timeline of how long it will take for the recall to be fixed.
Payne said they have not seen any damage among the recalled cars that have been turned in to her dealership.
"At my store I haven't seen anything, so I don't know," said Payne. "I don't know what's going on. We haven't had any of these come back with any kind of oil leak, or any kind of fuel link, or any type of fire issue at my store."
Payne said Downtown Ford customers are telling her they are happy with the vehicles and noted how proactive Ford has been in fixing any potential problems.
The Escape is made at Louisville Assembly Plant on Fern Valley Road. The Fusion is produced at a plant in Flat Rock, Michigan.
