18 Ways to Make a Baby, the University of Evansville hosted its latest "Think Outside the Lunch Box" faculty Speaker series Thursday.
Dr. Dick Connolly, Professor of Philosophy, outlined the ethical concerns of assisted reproductive technology featuring the many options for prospective parents.
"There's lots of issues that arise here. some of them, safety issues and some of them...most of them I think are moral and legal issues," said Dr. Connolly. "As we begin to use surrogate mothers to give birth, there are questions that arise as to what counts as a family, once we have these new reproductive technologies," he said.
Connolly adds that more than 1% of all infants born in the US are conceived using assisted reproductive technology.
