GARRAD COUNTY, KY (WAVE) - Dozens of dogs were rescued from a home and now an animal shelter is running out of space.
The investigation started when two animal shelter employees went to a home and took photos. The photos revealed more than 40 dogs, stacked in cage outside.
The couple who owned the dogs said they were not doing anything wrong, but the animal shelter begs to differ. Earlene Harris with the Garrard County Animal Shelter said, "There was some hard food on the ground. they were kept out doors. I'm not sure how they survived, they are totally matted."
A couple of the dogs are pregnant and there are also a few new mothers.
Some of the puppies are no more than 8 days old.
