The National Weather Service has released the scheduled dates for implementing the new Dual Polarization Doppler Radar upgrade in the tri-state.
Each of the Doppler radars in our area will be upgraded, which will take up to two weeks to complete.
The Paducah radar will be first to upgrade starting January 7, 2013, followed by the Fort Campbell radar on January 21, 2013.
The upgrade to the Owensville radar, which serves most of the tri-state, will begin February 4, 2013.
During the two week upgrade period, the radar will not be functional. 14 News will continue to utilize our two dopplers during this time.
Dual Pol is the biggest step forward in radar technology since doppler was introduced decades ago.
