In Henderson, the Kentucky Office of Employment and Training is sponsoring its "Adopt-A-Veteran Angel Tree" for the eighth year.
The tree is on display in the office's lobby on North Water Street.
Employment officials tell us each angel-shaped tag represents a veteran in one of eleven area nursing or medical facilities.
Each tag lists items you can bring in for those veterans. Items like blankets or sugar-free candy.
Office representatives say everyone is encouraged to come pick up a tag and help out.
"During this time of year, it's an opportunity for us to say thank you to those veterans who put it all on the line at one time or another," said Larry Wheatley, Local Veterans Employment Rep., Office of Employment and Training. "You know, they all raised their right hand freely to serve their country. So, one of the things that we can do is just give a little bit back to them and put a smile on their face," she said.
If you pick up an "angel" ornament employment representatives say the gift items need to be returned to the Water Street office by December 14.
Gifts will be delivered on the 20th and 21st.
