Owensboro makes last minute preparations for Holiday Stroll

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

On Wednesday, crews from the City of Owensboro made last minute preparations for Saturday's Holiday Stroll. They tested breakers and checked Christmas lights.

"We've had one or two issues that we've run into. Some lights have gotten wet," said Lelan Hancock, Deputy Director of Public Works, "We've had most of the bugs worked out.

Holiday Stroll is a downtown Christmas themed event where the city showcases its downtown merchants.  Live entertainment like carolers and musicians will be at the different stores and restaurants.

"We're excited to be able to expand it this year and do the kick off here at Smothers Park," said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events for the city of Owensboro. 

Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne will light the Christmas tree at Smoothers park.  The event starts at 5pm in Smothers Park and ends at 8:00 p.m this Saturday.
