POSEY CO., IN (WFIE) -

A North Posey High School history teacher and football coach got a surprise award Monday afternoon.

Paul Rynkiewich was named a Peabody Energy Leader and given a check for a $1,000.

Peabody officials say Rynkiewich played a vital part in establishing the school's Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and instituted anthropology in the schools curriculum. They say he is committed to preparing students for life beyond high school.

"Whatever you do in life, bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to it, with a positive attitude. I try my darndest to do that every day in my lessons. Energy, enthusiasm, I think it helps the kids learn and I think it's important," Rynkiewich said.
