Police investigating accidental death of 4-year-old boy

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville Police say Wednesday night they are investigating the accidental death of a 4 year-old boy.

Authorities say officers and medical crews were dispatched to the 500 block of Elsas Ave. around 5:00 p.m. when they received a call about a 4-year-old that was injured inside the apartment. 

Police believe Gennix Starks was injured when a large television fell of its stand and landed on the him. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

Based on evidence at the scene and preliminary medical reports, investigators are treating this as an accidental death.

The Vanderburgh County Coroners' Office will perform an autopsy in the coming days to determine the official cause of death.
