AUSTIN, IN (WAVE) – Authorities in Scott County, Indiana say they have solved the 2009 disappearance of Paul Graupe and the man they have in custody will be charged with his murder.
Robert Riley, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday on unrelated charges for failure to pay child support.
According to Scott County Sheriff, authorities acting on an anonymous tip began searching Riley's Austin, Indiana home Tuesday afternoon and found a body in a dilapidated duplex behind it.
Sheriff Dan McClain said Wednesday that Riley admitted to stabbing Graupe in the back.
Graupe was last seen on November 24, 2009. During an interview with WAVE 3 shortly after Graupe vanished, his family said he was on his way to collect money owed to him from Riley, a convicted felon.
Riley is being held on the child support charges, but formal charges against him for the death of Graupe are expected to be filed next week.
