Evansville murderer sentenced for his crime

An Evansville man, convicted of murder, has been sentenced for his part in a deadly shooting.

25-year-old Michael Lane was sentenced to 55 years for murder, 4 years each for two class C felony counts of criminal recklessness, and 10 years for felony conspiracy to deal drugs.

The shooting killed a man named Michael Hooper, and left two others seriously wounded.

Jason Derrington's spinal cord was severed by gunshot.

According to police, Lane began shooting when he tried to steal back his cash during a drug deal.
