Some needy children in more than 100 countries throughout the world will be receiving Christmas presents from right here in the tri-state. The program at the heart of it is called Operation Christmas Child.
The international program started in 1993 and collects shoe boxes or small containers filled with toiletries, toys and school supplies.
Donations come from families, churches, businesses and other community groups. Organizers say they have already exceeded their goal of collecting 1,500 boxes this year.
"Our church has collected 400 this year, but within our relay center which is getting boxes from all over the community, we are well over 2,200," relay coordinator Joannie Hollis-Smith said.
If you'd like to help, the relay center will be collecting boxes tomorrow at the Evansville First Baptist Church on Cherry Street in downtown Evansville.
If you donate a box, you'll be able to track it's journey online.
