An accident on the Pennyrile Parkway caused one woman to have to be cut from her vehicle and airlifted to the hospital Sunday morning.
Henderson Police say 78-year-old William Weise was driving southbound on the Pennyrile Parkway near the Zion exit when he began to change from the right lane into the left when 73-year-old Clarence Davis vehicle struck the rear driver's side of Weise's vehicle. Authorities say Weise's vehicle spun due to the impact causing it to cross the median into the northbound lanes.
Officers say 58-year-old Shirley Nickens of Evansville was driving northbound on the Pennyrile when Weise's vehicle entered her lane and the vehicles collided.
Police say Nickens was cut from her vehicle and transported to St. Mary's by LifeFlight. Diana Sutton, the passenger in Nickens vehicle, was also transported to St. Mary's by ambulance.
There's no word on the condition of Nickens or Sutton. No other injuries were reported.
Part of the Parkway was closed while crews cleaned up the accident.
