EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
Students at Resurrection School in Vanderburgh County declared war on hunger this week.
They've been collecting food for St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry, and Friday, they loaded up several trucks to donate.
Students turned the collecting into and competition and were given bonus points for the item of the day each day this week.
"This is a wonderful time of the year," said Manager of the St. Vincent De Paul Food Pantry Sister Donna Herr. "I always look forward to November because I know the food will start rolling in. I think people are very aware of giving thanks to god for all the blessing they've received and so they want to return thanks and it couldn't come at a better time."
Those 'items of the day' included things like peanut butter and cereal, which are items the food pantry needs most.
