Some good economic news: A Dubois County company is expanding its headquarters in Jasper.
Meyer Distributing, an automotive specialty products company, broke ground Friday on the first part of a five-year expansion that will double the companies footprint in Jasper, and add more than 100 new jobs.
Meyer Distributing's $23 million expansion project is officially in motion.
"We decided to formalize it into a five-year plan and it starts with this right here," said CEO of Meyer Distributing Mike Braun.
This area will become a new warehouse that will bridge the gap between the current one and their current corporate facility.
As Nick Gramelspacher of Meyer Distributing will tell you, they need the extra space.
"We've got probably 15 to 20 trailers just packed full of overstock merchandise because we're essentially out of room."
Once that is done in about nine months, they will turn their attention to phase two, expanding their corporate space.
"We got another big space that's going to be used," Braun said. "They're going to remodel it for office space. We'll be adding onto that then some two and a half three years down the road."
When they are finally finished, in about five years, they will increase their presence in Jasper from 200,000 square feet to 500,000 square feet.
And add 109 new jobs.
"We'll be hiring sales people, warehouse workers, administrative staff and truck drivers," Braun noted.
The company is already accepting applications.
