A vigil was held Wednesday night on the USI campus to remember Adrien Mowery, the student found dead of natural causes inside his car last week.
14 News has learned that Adrien Mowery had overcome a lot of obstacles to go back to school.
Adrien was born with a rare heart disease and in 2006 he had a heart transplant. Because of his health, he couldn't always attend class.
"Whenever you're on a campus of 10,000 students, it's easy to believe the lie that you're just a number, that you're just one of 10,000. No, every single student here is important," said student Erin Gillingham. "Every, all 10,000 of us are important, collectively, and by ourselves and we want to make sure if we lost a student, we want to make sure we take a moment to remember that student."
Adrien's sister also talked about the importance of organ donation. She says without Adrien's new heart she would have lost him six years ago.
