EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

An Evansville man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.

40-year-old Terry Rexing was convicted in October on five counts of dealing meth and for being an habitual offender.

Evansville Police say it all began with a fire on North Weinbach in August of this year. At the time, investigators say when firefighters arrived, Rexing and another man told fire crews they didn't have their consent to enter.

Police say the firefighters forced their way inside because of a threat to public safety and put out two fires. Police say both were started by one pot meth labs.

The prosecutor says he was hoping for a long sentence for Rexing since the fire was near a school.
