Indiana is expected to have one of the nation's biggest and best recruiting classes. Purdue coach Matt Painter thinks he got just what he needed with the three recruits he signed Wednesday morning.

On the first day of the early signing period, the Boilermakers signed guard Bryson Scott and forward Basil Smotherman, both in-state recruits, and shooting guard Kendall Stephens, an Illinois native, whose father, Everett, scored more than 1,000 points at Purdue.

The Hoosiers have not yet confirmed the signees. Coach Tom Crean was not expected to talk about the class until everyone had signed and one player, Troy Williams, wasn't expected to send his national letter-of-intent to Indiana until Monday.

Indiana is expected to sign five other players including Indianapolis natives Devin Davis and Collin Hartman, both forwards.
