Being a smoke-free business can help you save money, according to one organization

OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -

Some businesses are looking to clear the air when it comes to secondhand smoke from indoor work sites. Smoke-free businesses will be the topic at a forum Wednesday night.

That forum will take place at the Riverpark Center in Downtown Owensboro from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

It's part of the Smoke Free Kentucky campaign.

Here's some quick facts about that movement and what will be discussed tonight.

According to the Smoke-Free Kentucky website, smoke-free laws are actually very helpful to businesses that have chosen to adopt them.

There are lots of reasons for that, but here are just a couple that will be discussed Wednesday night.

Businesses with smoke-free laws are actually able to lower their cleaning and maintenance costs.

By saving some money, these businesses are also able to help save lives by eliminating secondhand smoke.

Making your business smoke-free can also lower the number of fires and accidental injuries.

As a result, that helps to lower insurance costs for businesses.
