Evansville Home to Indiana Cheer coach of the Year

Posted: Updated:

Not only did Harrison High School's cheer team earn the opportunity to compete at the State Cheer Competition recently, the team's coach, Doug Patberg, received the State Cheerleading Coach of the Year Award while in Indianapolis for the competition.

Patberg, who is currently in his fifth year as cheerleading coach at Harrison, was nominated for the award by parents and Harrison staff members.

The award, which is sponsored by the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP), honors one coach in the entire state who has worked to provide a positive experience for the school's cheerleading team and to highlight the contributions of devoted coaches.

Coaches can be nominated by their principal, athletic director, another coach, parent or volunteer.
