Wiltjer named SEC Player of the Week

Kentucky forward Kyle Wiltjer is the Southeastern Conference's Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-10 sophomore had 19 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two assists in the Wildcats' season-opening 72-69 victory over Maryland in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Friday. Wiltjer was 6 of 9 shooting including 4 of 6 from 3-point range.

His 3-point and block totals were career highs.

Wiltjer also sunk two clutch free throws in the final three minutes against the Terrapins.

Wiltjer's scoring total was his highest recording a career-high 24 against Loyola last December. In that game he scored 11 first-half points to reach double figures for just the sixth time in his career.
