EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

Evansville's Fitness in the Park event will be this Saturday at Lloyd Pool, and it's a chance to show off the renovations that have taking place at the pool.

The city has pumped $200,000 into the pool.

The biggest improvement for swimmers is the liner. It was the most expensive part of the renovations at $125,000, but they say it makes a world of difference.

"You could see green stuff on the bottom of the pool. It wasn't very good. It was slick on the bottom and sticky. It was nasty," said student swimmer, Kyle Haas.

The city also installed a new bulkhead which cost $25,000. Repairs were made to the sundeck, which was leaking down into the locker rooms.

The city still wants to install new diving boards and bleachers, but the park's board say it's excited to show off the repairs made so far this weekend.
