Henderson's Riverwalk extension project is almost complete.
That's part of the nearly $1.7 million project funded by grant money.
Also opening Friday is Water Street and North Merritt Drive. Mayor Steve Austin says those roads have been completely rebuilt from the base up. Crews also installed new gutters and drains to prevent flooding.
Those who live near the river say they're excited for a picturesque area to walk outside.
"We have a lot of walkers around here. They walk their dogs and stuff like that. We are looking forward to it. We'll be glad when Friday gets here," Henderson resident, Jo Anne Wilkerson said.
The city says that on Monday, crews have been out putting the finishing touches on lighting and landscaping near the Riverwalk to get ready for Friday.
