KY students continue to honor veterans on Monday

Posted: Updated:

Monday in Kentucky, some groups are continuing to honor veterans as we continue to celebrate the holiday.

Here's a quick list of what's happening today to thank them for their service:

Whitesville Elementary will host a veterans breakfast, followed by an appreciation ceremony at 7:45 a.m.

The Daviess County High School Navy Junior ROTC will conduct a ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the gym.

Rounding out the schools, East View Elementary will host "A Tribute to our Troops" at 1:30 this afternoon.

First graders will sing patriotic songs and honor each area of military service.

It's not just schools that are holding events.

Hospice of Western Kentucky and the Haley McGinnis Funeral Home are hosting a program at the National Guard Armory, that's out near the airport.

It starts with the presentation of the colors and is followed by speakers and other ways to honor veterans.

The good news is that all of these events, even the ones at the schools, are free and open to the public, so they're great ways to honor veterans in your life and the community.
