It's Friiiday! It's finally Friiiday!! I'm singing that in my head in the voice of a guy who used to work for my station in Chicago (at my last job). He did horoscopes (it was a different kind of show…obviously:) ) and did a funny little dance on Friday mornings. It was pretty awful-- and awesome-- at the same time. Haha!
Anyway, I'm so looking forward to some relaxation this weekend! But first, let me tell you about today. It was NOT a stressful and hectic Friday. Very thankful for that!! It really was a fantastic day. I had a chance to meet some wonderful people at both of my stories.
First—I went to the Feeding Clinic at St. Mary's for a story that will air next week. Here's a sneak peek of the precious little girl I met. Her name is Faith. She's 22 months old and is at the Feeding Clinic learning how to eat. For most children, it's instinctual. For Faith, it's been a long road that still has no definitive end. I'll tell you much more about her story in the blog next week.
When I left St. Mary's I headed to Poseyville. To be honest, I'm not sure I've ever been to Poseyville before. Mt. Vernon, yes. New Harmony, yes. But Poseyville, I don't think so. Well, my first trip was a great one! I met 9-year-old Kyle Payne.
He's in the 4th grade and earlier this week made quite the discovery. He was flipping through his Indiana Social Studies book and found a picture that caught his eye. Turns out—it was a picture of some of his family members! How cool??
Above is the picture with some arrows pointing out who is who. "Me" is John, Kyle's dad.
Kyle said his friends didn't really believe him at first, so hopefully having his story on the news completely validated his eagle eye!
Switching gears… yesterday I talked about the wild time Araceli and I had at Buehler's IGA filling our carts during a shopping spree. Well, an update. First of all, I'm pretty sore. All from less than 5 minutes of exercise. That might be telling me something. Also, somehow, our picture (including my crazy hair) made it into the Courier & Press this morning.
I think the last time I was in the paper I was battling for a loose ball on the basketball court in high school! That will be a neat keepsake. (Maybe not as neat as having my picture in a history book, but pretty cool nonetheless!)
I also wanted to share this picture of our awesome anchor David James. Last night the super sweet woman who helps keep the station looking nice wasn't feeling the best, so David decided to take out the trash out to help her out. He acted like it was no big deal for him to do it. I think his exact words were, "It's my recreation."
I think that says a lot about his willingness to step in and do what's needed. Anyway, I posted the picture and a caption on my 14 News facebook page… and it now has 552 "likes"! That is so cool! David, you ROCK!
Ok, well… I hope everyone has a great weekend! I'm starting it off listening to the UE Lady Aces playing Ball State on the radio. The play-by-play guys are keeping me company as I write. Making me happy because we are up at halftime (just by one point… but hey… after last year we will TAKE IT!).
Until next time,
