Get out those fireworks! They're legal to light in Evansville for a short time

Posted: Updated:

If you still have fireworks left over from the dry summer, Friday night is a make-up day in Evansville.

You have until 11:00 Friday night to use those fireworks.

You also can light them off Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Evansville City Council allowed for these two extra days because of the drought at the end of June through early July.

"There are fairly high winds forecast for this weekend and, as you can tell it's pretty breezy, I just want to stress any fireworks that you set off if there is any damage caused by those the person setting off the fireworks is responsible," said Dan Grimm with the EFD.

The hours mentioned are just for Evansville.

If you live outside the city, contact your local Fire Department for hours.
