Many local schools took time Friday to honor veterans.
In Henderson, some schools even brought in service personnel to speak to students.
The first event of the morning was at AB Chandler Elementary.
Guest speaker and Army veteran Timothy Callazo spoke to students about his experience in the military.
Timothy fought in Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for both deployments.
Timothy says he was honored to talk with the students Friday, and hopes he made a positive impact.
"I can't put it into words," he said. "I'm humbled. I believe that each one teach one. And if I could just impact one child in a positive manor, I've made the difference in the world."
Students at Chandler are holding a drive, where they collect items to send to troops overseas for the holidays.
