Factory worker says he was forced to remove Obama t-shirt

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - There is outrage in Mississippi this morning. This comes after a worker at the electronics company Siemens made claims that he and others were forced to remove shirts depicting President Barack Obama.

Robert White says a group of employees wore the Obama t-shirts to work this week, and were told by Human Resources to take them off or go home.

The 49-year-old assembly worker says they purchased the shirts through a local union and have worn them before.

The workers say they removed their shirts, but contacted union officials who plan to file a grievance.

According to White, there is likely a double standard at play.

"I've seen Romney and Ryan shirts on a couple of white guys," White said. "You got people coming out there with confederate flags and different things…other political type of statements, and I can't wear the President of The United States of America - I don't know where I'm at anymore."

Siemens has not issued a comment on the matter.
