14 News.com makes a change to commenting system

Posted: Updated:

You may have noticed on our website that our old commenting system has gone away. We have decided, in an effort to make our comment threads more friendly to move to a system that only allows for those who have a Facebook account to comment on 14News.com.

We hope the new commenting method will allow you to engage in healthy dialogue about the content of the stories we share with you, and keep those who make hateful or racist comments off our page. It should at least hold some folks more accountable for what they say. What's that old saying: Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

If you wish to create a Facebook account to be able to comment on 14news.com, it's easy and you can get started here: http://www.facebook.com. While you're at it, be sure to "like" 14 News on Facebook. You can do so by clicking here: http://www.facebook.com/14news

And in case you missed it, here is our Facebook commenting policy:

*14 News Facebook Commenting Policy*

We encourage you to comment on the stories and topics we post throughout each day. Discussion, opinions, and even disagreements are welcome.
The threads should, however, be respectful and remain "on topic".

Violations, including name-calling, hate speech, or threats will result in deleted posts and the possible loss of your ability to comment on the 14 News Facebook page.
