Sentencing Date Set For Convicted Cocaine Dealer

Posted: Updated:

A Posey County jury finds 59-year-old Floyd Stewart guilty of dealing cocaine in Mount Vernon.

Stewart is convicted on two class A felonies. The jury returned a verdict within 14 minutes following the 2 day trial that ended Thursday.

Posey County's Prosecutor Travis Clowers says Stewart was arrested during a major drug sweep in 2011. During that sweep 95 officers arrested 21 people. Clowers says these arrests are part of an effort to keep drugs out of Posey County.

Floyd Stewart is one of the last of the suspects to face prosecution. Stewart's sentencing date is currently set for November 27th. He faces up to 50 years in prison.

His co-defendant, Anthony Gadgen, is expected to stand trial in December.
