EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The Gresham House in Evansville will soon be home to some Tri-State veterans.

The Parks Board voted Thursday to donate the historic house to the Echo Housing Corporation to use as temporary housing for veterans.

Echo says it will eventually house 10 veterans at a time.

The home is located on the corner of Wedeking and Herndon in Garvin Park.

Echo says finding affordable housing for vets is a struggle and converting the Gresham Home will help, but first it needs some renovations.

"Structurally the house has a lot of issues, that's the first thing we'd have to address," said Stephanie Tenbarge with the Echo Housing Corp. "As far as the attic, what I was looking at would be the eaves would have doors and be cubbies for individual storage, and then the long narrow piece would be the dormitory."

Echo says it doesn't know how much the renovations will cost and it may be some time before the home is ready.
