VANDERBURGH CO., IN (WFIE) -

Almost 12 years ago, our family moved from Evansville to Lexington, Kentucky. Evansville will always have a special place in our hearts, but we were drawn to Lexington because we could see then its possibilities.

Since 1970, Lexington has had a population increase of 72.9% and it's no accident we continue to see many high-value jobs created here. Lexington unified in 1974. While it certainly wasn't an easy process, it turned out to be a game-changer.

Both Lexington and Evansville need every advantage they can find in order to be competitive with larger cities. Unified government gives the community an aligned focus and allows government to speak with one voice.   It sends a strong message that your community is serious about growing the economy and attracting good jobs.

As someone who has lived and worked in both types of government, I can say with certainty that voting yes for unification is what's best for Evansville and its future.
