Two arrested on drug charges, police say suspect had over $5,000 in his pants

Investigators with the JTF arrested 2 men on narcotics charges after serving a search warrant at 714 E. Maryland.

Authorities say 29-year-old Adam Brandt was taken into custody at the house.

Officials say detectives found 6.3 grams of heroin, 3 grams of marijuana, and over $5,000 in his pants pocket when he was arrested. EPD says detectives also seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia from his bedroom. Brandt also had several marijuana plants growing in the bedroom.

Police say 28-year-old Michael Hughes was arrested at a nearby convenience store when he met a potential drug buyer. Hughes, who had just left the Maryland St address, was arrested after accepting money that was to be used to purchase heroin.
