Newburgh residents invited to see draft of parks master plan

NEWBURGH, IN (WFIE) -

The people of Newburgh and Ohio Township are invited to see the draft of the Newburgh Parks master plan.

Newburgh already has a lot to offer, but this master plan is needed for the town.

The draft master parks plan will include the results from a survey where residents in Newburgh and Ohio Township were asked what they thought about Newburgh Parks.

The draft includes a possible amphiteahter at the Old Lock and Dam Park, a spray park and a dog park. The plan also includes improvements to current parks.

The list will be priortized and presented to the parks board in December.

"We have quite a large parks system for a very small town and we need to develop a plan on how to do repairs or improvements. It seems that the biggest areas that people were interested in, were expanding the Rivertown Trail going west, towards Evansville, Angel Mounds and then doing improvements to the pool," said Cynthia Burger, Newburgh Town Manager.

Ideas are welcome Thursday at the meeting that starts at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall.

The town is also hoping to create a park foundation made up of Newburgh and Ohio Township residents.
