OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) -
14 NEWS UPDATE: The Iler-Waitman building in Owensboro has been sold at auction for $251,000. Crandall Properties was the auction winner.
Kurtz Auction & Realty says 70% of the sale's proceeds will go to the Cliff Hagan Boys & Girls Club.
PREVIOUSLY REPORTED: Tuesday in Kentucky, a much anticipated piece of property is going up for auction in Owensboro.
It's a two story building located right in the thick of the city's downtown development.
One of the best parts about this property is the fact that it has rear access to the Riverfront Crossing.
The two story commercial building is in the 200 block of West Second St. and Kurtz Auction and Reality will conduct the auction.
Why exactly is this property so valuable? As you know Downtown Owensboro is right in the middle of a complete revitalization that includes the newly renovated smothers park and the construction of a new convention center.
This building was formerly occupied by attorneys W. Gordon Iler and James Waitman.
To give you kind of a layout of the building, it's two stories with a downstairs waiting room, conference room, and three offices. Two additional offices and conference room are upstairs.
The property is located right by the main pedestrian access to Smothers Park, and upstairs features a great view of the Ohio River. So it should be interesting to see how much this building goes for with so much potential business for whoever wins the auction.
The auction starts at 10 Tuesday morning and it's at the building itself, so everyone bidding has a chance to get a look at what they're bidding on.
