EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -
An apartment fire on Evansville's east side.
Officials say the fire broke out after 11 Monday night at the Bradford Pointe Apartments.
They say the two story building contained two apartments.
The top apartment was vacant and received little damage.
Witness say they saw smoke and flames shooting from the bottom apartment's window, prompting them to take action.
Neighbor Pedro Gonzales said, "I was screaming for their names as much as I can. And I walked in and there was just too much smoke so I had to turn around. I just left."
Police say no one home was in that apartment at the time of the fire.
The other apartments were evacuated but residents were allowed to return home last night.
