JASPER, IN (WFIE) -
Jasper Police are investigating five business burglaries that took place this weekend.
In fact, they're offering reward for anyone with information that will lead them to the suspects.
Schmidt Contracting in Jasper is one of several businesses in town that has recently been burglarized. Now, the Jasper Police and Schmidt Contracting are coming together to offer a reward to anyone with information that could lead to an arrest.
"We're investigating five different burglaries that have taken place in the past week. Denny's Auto, K & P Auto and Truck Repair, Paul's Custom Auto, Grand Rental Station, and SchmIdt Contracting," Jasper Detective Rick Chambers said.
Chambers believes all five burglaries are connected.
"There's similarities that make us think this same person or persons is probably responsible for all five burglaries. Most the things that are being taken just is cash. A little bit of merchandise, but most of the time it's just cash," Chambers said.
In an attempt to expedite the investigation, a $1,500 reward is being offered to anyone with information, leading to an arrest or arrests. $1,000 coming from the police department and $500 coming from Schmidt Contracting.
"We don't have that very often in our community, and that's kind of what's really unnerving to a lot of people in the neighborhood," said Phil Schmidt of Schmidt Contracting.
Schmidt says thieves broke-in through a window and stole over $2,500 worth of collectible cash and coins. He also says the suspects were caught on tape by nearby surveillance cameras.
"I think it's good for the community to make sure everybody feels safe again, and make sure these people are behind bars or not doing it anymore," Schmidt said.
Jasper Police say the $1,500 reward will be handed out following the conviction of a burglary suspect.
